I had a round of interviews with Veryable. For those unfamiliar with it, it "aims to revolutionize manufacturing", but what it really does it post gigs that people can bid on. The community it serves is largely women and BIPOC, the groups who have historically had trouble finding FTE. This didn't sit right with me, but I went on with the interview process, because everyone is a consenting adult and I thought that if anyone could bring humanity and a FTE pipeline to this model, I hoped it would be me.
Fast forward to my interview with the Eastern Division President, and I asked about HR. "We don't have HR." I asked about DEIB. "We don't do that."
Well okay, then, I am not a fit for you, Veryable. Their social media depicts BIPOC and women, but their upper leadership is entirely white men. Just some red flags that I saw during the process, make of it what you will. It can be a good short term solution for folks working the gig economy, but I hated that there was no health insurance and you're not paying into social security for your future.
