For those of you who have had experiences that (unfortunately or fortunately) ended in legal action being taken, what advice would you give to others who might be going through the same? Other than keeping your cool, the best advice I was given was to document, document, document. If you believe you're experiencing discrimination of any kind, protect yourself with documentation!

Document and keep a timeline. I had the documents but putting the timeline together was the work. Make sure you have everything you need before you report. They will go into self protect mode and remove you from systems. If you think they won't break the law to protect themselves like destroying evidence ie deleting emails, they will. They purged my account which had years of information down to three months. And there is no repercussions unless you go to court. Most don't make it to court. Settlements are not just. I was about the principle not the money and I wanted more than they paid the person who caused me harm but alas even in anti blackness discrimination the settlement was below and I wanted to walk. The reminder was neither side will walk away happy. I had proven my point, revealed the disease and set up the folks who remained to have grounds for demands. Sadly it's better the MORE harm they continue to do that you can prove. So if you know or sense something is wrong and work virtually, start recording the meetings. Use other excuses like to take notes. I captured my offenders on video. I had the emails. The slack messages. I just didn't have the phone calls. But once you're done. Whatever that is either settlement or court ends, release the toxic energy and heal. You've stood up for yourself. Be proud and hug yourself.
